Happy Birthday, Ned! (#264)

09.12.18

The old man turns 11. One year again today, I adopted Eddard Stark Ames but I like to call him Ned for short. He’s not the friendliest but he sure knows how to cuddle. He’s an old man set in his ways but has brought love and affection to my family and me. When I adopted Ned, I wasn’t sure how my parents would react. They weren’t thrilled about the idea but I think they realize how special Ned is. He’s always around to listen and can appreciate a good piece of ham. Looking forward to spending many more birthdays with my cat Ned.

Gratitude in Remembrance (#263)

09.11.18

For my American readers, today is a day we all know too well. I was too young to remember any of the images but what I do remember is my parents. My mom, in tears desperately trying to reach my dad. Teachers at school, stunned. My heart goes out to those impacted by today and I have gratitude for the first responders who gave their lives.

We can use gratitude in so many different ways and we feel it for so many different reasons. But today, I just want to say thank you.

Have To vs Get To (#262)

Happy Monday! We can make the conscious choice to start our week with positivity and gratitude. Try to think of as many “have to vs get to” in your life. A simple way of framing work or a task in our day with positive language can go a long way.

Surrounded (#261)

I love football season. I love my New England Patriots. I love Tom Brady. But most of all, I love spending my Sunday with my family enjoying the game. Sports are an important part of my life and I’m grateful for the past decade plus of excellence the Patriots have demonstrated during the fall and winter seasons.

It’s not about winning. I’m grateful to spend the time with my family and have something we all enjoy together. I’m grateful for the game day snacks and traditions my family has. I’m grateful for the time my family shares rooting for our local team.

Author Your Own Amazing Story (#260)

It is my belief that mediocrity only exists because those are the limits we set for ourselves. We accept average as our norm and grow complacent with the outcome.

You can author and create the life you always wanted and you don’t have to wait until tomorrow to start. Begin right now. Use gratitude to recognize your growth overtime but ground yourself in the here and now. Each breath is new. Each moment we have in a day has the potential to change our lives. So why not you?

What We Carry (#259)

Everyone has a story. We all come from somewhere and have experiences we carry with us. As much as we try and let go, our past can sometimes feel like a piece of our identity.

The crying cheerleader gif may feel familiar for you, because it definitely does for me. What we carry and hold on to can be exhausting and draining. Although it may not be as dramatic as this, holding on to the past can take its toll.

If you felt like you needed permission – let go. If you just needed a friendly reminder – let go. Use gratitude and demonstrate appreciation for THIS MOMENT. We can’t change the past but we can be present in the here and now. Be grateful for lessons learned but know there’s no going back. Let go of what you were carrying. Free yourself and be the best version of you with gratitude.

We’re In This Together (#258)

Gratitude starts with us. It’s something we feel internally for a feeling, a place, a person, whatever. That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be shared, especially in effort to create a culture with gratitude in mind.

As one person I can only do so much. That’s why I need your help. Sharing gratitude and positivity is something we can do together, you in?

Surround yourself with people who encourage your best self. The life you try and create for yourself isn’t something you need to accomplish alone.
