One Year Of Gratitude (#319)

It was a year ago today this blog was started. It was a year ago I made the decision to include gratitude in my daily life. This has been one incredible year. One full of unexpected learning and new experiences. So much has changed in what feels like a short amount of time. I sit here writing with the same goals and intentions.

As the new year approaches I find myself making new resolutions.

Accountability

Flexibility

Vulnerability

These are three areas that I’m going to focus on as the new year begins. Funny enough, it’s fitting that each is dependent upon my ABILITY to be each of those things.

Accountable – I had an easy fall semester in terms of work and I know I need to kick it up a notch to accomplish my goals. I have to actively identify healthy behaviors and keep to it. Daily gratitude, time at the gym, a desire to explore and grow.

Flexibility – Go with the flow and take life one day at a time. I don’t have to always be so rigid in my expectations of others, myself, and this life. This life is a process and I’m doing my best to celebrate it along the way with gratitude.

Vulnerability – I have to allow myself to be open to the best this life has to offer. To share hopes and dreams and encourage others to do the same. I want to build a culture where sharing values is the norm. To me, that’s what honest leadership is all about.

As 2018 draws to a close, I’m excited for what comes next. My short term goal is to finish my year of gratitude and go from there. One day at a time.
