Time Flies (#232)

I’m really trying my best to be present. To savor and cherish every second that passes me by in a day. I get to celebrate one of my best friends, Melissa, with her family and I’m grateful. The problem is as I write this post, is that today is already over.

This goes two ways though. I feel like I’m being mindful without the constant mental reminders. I engage in conversation, I use my senses to appreciate my surroundings, I listen to others, and it all falls into place from there. I can’t believe there’s already been 11 days of August because I feel like I just got home.

Life is both long and short, we gotta make the most of it anyway we know how.

Embracing Change (#231)

I’m grateful for gratitude. It may seem like an intuitive statement but it’s true. Gratitude is powerful and sharing it allows us to be present. Change is always happening and gratitude grounds us in the here and now.

    My Power Within (#206)

    There are a lot of people I look up to. They’re strong, self motivated, and have this innate confidence I often wish to emulate.

    I’m grateful. I didn’t always believe I had it. I didn’t always feel capable but I know over time that’s changed. My heart ache, my moments of learning, it’s helped me recognize my own power within. My power comes from my breath and is sustained with each moment of gratitude and appreciation for this life and my place within an ever changing universe.

    Gratitude In Food (#194)

    If you’ve been following along, it’s no secret I’m a huge fan of good cooking. I often find gratitude in food like peanut butter and buffalo chicken for more reasons than just how they taste. These foods and flavors are closely associated with fond memories and important people.

    This is also bigger than just me. There are millions of people around the world who aren’t sure what their next meal is or when it will come. I’m lucky I have so much access to food and clean cooking. There are people far worse off than I am and that’s something I’m mindful of whenever eating. I’m grateful I got to spend the day cooking good food with good company.

    “The Outcome Is Not The Outcome” (#190)

    I was listening to my new favorite podcast “Tribe of Mentors” and this was one of the quotes.

    “The outcome is not the outcome”.

    I think this quote stands out to me because I’ve seen it in my own life. Despite what happens in life, what we go through, what we accomplish, the world turns on. Successes, failures, change, it’s all constantly occurring leading us to new outcomes and learning moments.

    I think this is why gratitude can be so important. We can recognize how far we’ve come. When we were at our lowest, what it took to climb out because we know we can keep going. All we need to remember is to take it one day at a time.

    A Moment To Reflect And Breath (#126)

    I was disappointed in myself for missing a couple of days of blogging. I’d like to think I kept my gratitude promise by writing for those days today but I know it’s not the same thing. It shouldn’t matter that I published the blog a couple of days late because it was never about posting every day or proving I can write 365 blogs. I didn’t start writing about gratitude to quantify a list of things I have. It’s not about the stuff on the list, or how many there are. It’s about the feeling each list item brings. So that’s why I’ll keep writing about gratitude. I believe in the power of thankfulness and hope sharing mine can inspire more.

    I recognize I hold a lot of privilege in my identities and opportunities. Sometimes preaching gratitude feels like I’m just simply advertising my advantages. I think like every feeling or emotion, we all feel it differently. The way I feel and express gratitude will be different than how others do the same.

    Albeit small, I want to use this platform to bring positivity into this world and inspire others any way I can.
