Embracing Change (#231)

I’m grateful for gratitude. It may seem like an intuitive statement but it’s true. Gratitude is powerful and sharing it allows us to be present. Change is always happening and gratitude grounds us in the here and now.

    A Fresh Start (#229)

Today, I drove back to UMass. As much as I loved my time in the UK, I’ve been looking forward to this day for quite a while. Fittingly, my supervisor Adam was one of the first people I got to see after arriving which made me happy.

It’s hard to believe I’m in my last year of graduate school. A year away from my degree, a year away from no more homework, a year away from the unknown. There are a lot of changes occurring and I feel the gravity of each of them. I’ll be working with a new staff, in a new area, with new responsibilities and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m grateful for the training and support I receive because without it, I wouldn’t be here.

I am fortunate to continue my education and I’m grateful it will allow me to help people in so many different ways.

  • Time With My Mom (#227)

I need to preface this post by saying my mom and I are incredibly alike for a lot of different reasons. We can be stubborn and emotional but also quite caring and intuitive. She and I haven’t always seen eye to eye but our relationship has dramatically improved over the past couple of years.

We spent the weekend, just us, down on the cape. We did a 9 mile morning run and got breakfast together after. It was the perfect get-away before heading back to work and school later this week. I’m grateful I got to spend that time with her and turn my phone off for a bit. I wouldn’t be who I am today without her.

    Somehow, Someway (#223)

My summer, similar to my suitcase….somehow, someway, it worked out. I couldn’t have imagined this would be how my summer would pan out but I’m grateful it did.

There was no way I thought I was going to be able to fit everything in my suitcase but again, I’m grateful it did.

This silly analogy often works on a much larger scale in life. The universe is unpredictable but with gratitude and positivity, it always works out the way it’s supposed to. We’re exactly where we’re supposed to be in life and for that reason we can be grateful.

    Opening Up (#218)

I never thought this blog would become what it has. Being honest with myself and putting it out there for the internet to read was scary at first. I’m grateful for the support I’ve found online and the perspective I’ve gained from sharing gratitude. I look forward to my post every night and I truly am grateful for gratitude.

    The Price Of Patience (#192)

The title may be misleading. I think there’s a major difference between indecision and patience. What we give to both of these things is what I’ll call “the price we pay”.

Indecision can result in missed opportunities. What we give to indecisiveness, or the price we pay, is how we let anxiety manifest. We let our fears get the best of us. The negative self talk in our head gets all the attention. We spend time investing in the things we can’t control and instead are left without options.

Patience is something different. Patience only costs a couple deep breaths and is rewarded with the best our Universe has to offer. When anxiety feels overwhelming, it comes down to what our focus and how we spend our most valuable asset, time.

How do you see patience? How do you remind yourself of its importance? When is a time you were grateful for a couple deep breaths?
