All About Values (#291)

Today was great! My class talked about gratitude without any prompting from me, I promise. All of the values we discussed are important and worthy of admiration. It all contributes to building positive and encouraging environments for the people around us.

These are students that want to make a difference. People who care about making positive changes in their environment. I’m so grateful to share these discussions and learn about their “why”.

Out Of My Control (#268)

I probably sound like a broken record to my friends. I think I started when I was in England because I recognized there was only so much I could do thousands of miles from home.

“I’m not worried about the things I can’t control”

There was no point! I wasn’t going to keep stressing when life took the choice out of my hands. Life is impermanent. Things change. I had to keep reminding myself of these things with a hint of gratitude.

Have To vs Get To (#262)

Happy Monday! We can make the conscious choice to start our week with positivity and gratitude. Try to think of as many “have to vs get to” in your life. A simple way of framing work or a task in our day with positive language can go a long way.

Embracing Change (#231)

I’m grateful for gratitude. It may seem like an intuitive statement but it’s true. Gratitude is powerful and sharing it allows us to be present. Change is always happening and gratitude grounds us in the here and now.

    A Fresh Start (#229)

    Today, I drove back to UMass. As much as I loved my time in the UK, I’ve been looking forward to this day for quite a while. Fittingly, my supervisor Adam was one of the first people I got to see after arriving which made me happy.

    It’s hard to believe I’m in my last year of graduate school. A year away from my degree, a year away from no more homework, a year away from the unknown. There are a lot of changes occurring and I feel the gravity of each of them. I’ll be working with a new staff, in a new area, with new responsibilities and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m grateful for the training and support I receive because without it, I wouldn’t be here.

    I am fortunate to continue my education and I’m grateful it will allow me to help people in so many different ways.

  • Time With My Mom (#227)

    I need to preface this post by saying my mom and I are incredibly alike for a lot of different reasons. We can be stubborn and emotional but also quite caring and intuitive. She and I haven’t always seen eye to eye but our relationship has dramatically improved over the past couple of years.

    We spent the weekend, just us, down on the cape. We did a 9 mile morning run and got breakfast together after. It was the perfect get-away before heading back to work and school later this week. I’m grateful I got to spend that time with her and turn my phone off for a bit. I wouldn’t be who I am today without her.
