Give It Everything (#307)

John Wooden, one of my favorite coaches and philosophers said –

It’s so easy to relax, to cut corners, to let down after you’ve reached your goal, and begin thinking you can just “turn it on” automatically, without proper preparation. It takes real character to keep working as hard or even harder once you’re there. Don’t think you can make up for progress by working twice as hard tomorrow. If you have it within your power to work twice as hard, why aren’t you doing it now?

To me, the same applies to our energy when it comes to positivity. If we have the power to impact others, to be kind, and to show others gratitude – we must give our pursuits everything we have and then find a way to do it all again. This is how we create change, it starts with us!

Everything Has Its Place (#186)

Everything has its place and everything has a purpose. I spent weeks worrying about my work and my future. I was negative, unmotivated, and resentful of my current situation.

I was in the wrong space.

We all belong to the present. We all belong in the here and now. Otherwise, we’re distracted and misplaced. We have enough to tend to in the present to stress about everything we can’t control. I’m grateful I’m here. I’m grateful I’m with my brother. I’m grateful for the people who remind me I don’t have to go through life alone.

Speak It Into Your Existence (#156)

How many thoughts do you think you have in a single day?

How many of them are positive and encouraging? How many of them do you tell yourself that you are capable and loved?

There’s a lot to be grateful for but I think that all starts with the self-talk that goes on in our heads. It stems from our routines and our habits. It extends to our relationships and communication. Be the person you want others to be for you. Be kind. Be honest. It starts with us. We have that power. Let’s use it for good.

Featured image of me in New York after my first day at Swift Kick. I thought it only appropriate to highlight how change and new beginnings can bring so much learning and growth into our lives. As I start a new chapter tomorrow, I’m grateful for the experiences I’ve had and the support that’s helped me get here.
